Admissions Process

St. Andrew’s Episcopal School is currently accepting applications for Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 8.  For inquires or more information please contact Lisa Witter, Director of Advancement, Enrollment & Financial Aid at lwitter@standrewsepiscopalschool.org or (504) 866-6553.

Steps to apply:

1. Visit Our Campus

A private tour or Open House tour of our campus is an essential part of our school’s admissions process.  You will be able to see first-hand our students and faculty in action. Individual tours are conducted throughout the year and are typically in the morning between 8:30 am and noon and last approximately 60 minutes.  Open Houses are scheduled in the month of October. It is highly encouraged to attend both an Open House and a private tour. Please call Lisa Witter, Director of Advancement, Enrollment & Financial Aid at 504-866-6553 to schedule a tour of our campus.

2. Secure Admission Application, Transcript Release and Submit

Complete our online application and transcript release form today! All submitted applications require a $50 non-refundable application fee. To be assured of timely processing, applications should be submitted as early in the fall as possible and prior to December 31 to be assured first-round admission consideration.

3. Teacher Recommendation and Transcript Request

Parents will sign an online transcript release with the online application giving St. Andrew’s Episcopal School permission to request your child’s transcripts from his or her current school. The Admission Office will send your child’s current teacher a confidential student recommendation form for completion. This form is returned directly to St. Andrew’s Episcopal School.

4. Schedule Testing for PK 4 – Grade 8

St. Andrew’s Episcopal School requires that your child have an Intellectual Assessment (Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence-WPPSI-IV or Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-WISC-IV).  The appropriate test is determined by the age of the child. Parents coordinate the testing with the psychologist, and the psychologist submits the results to our Admission Office. A list of suggested psychologists is provided.  Please contact one of the psychologists listed, or any other qualified tester you may choose, to arrange the administration of the test.  If you should have any questions related to the intellectual assessment please contact the Admission Office.

5. Schedule a Student Visit or Observation

Once the Admission Office has received your completed application, we will schedule a date for your child to visit St. Andrew’s. Children applying for grades Kindergarten – Grade 8 typically visit with their current grade level.  Children applying to PK 3 and PK 4 will be observed at their current school in their comfortable environment.

6. Admission Decisions

All applications are processed through the Admissions Office and the Admission Committee reviews each applicant’s completed file. Admission decisions are based on several factors, including the classroom visit or observation, intellectual assessment results, confidential teacher recommendations, and space availability.  Ultimately, each decision is based on what is best for the child. Parents will be notified of admission decisions according to the schedule of dates set by the ISAS (Independent Schools Association of the Southwest) schools in New Orleans.
