Application Process for the Cottage

St. Andrew’s Episcopal School is currently accepting applications for students 12 months – 3 years old.  To be assured of timely processing, applications should be submitted as early in the fall as possible.   3. School Visit – A school visit will be scheduled by the Admissions Office if needed.
  4. Testing is required for PK 3 – Schedule Speech-Language, Hearing and School Readiness Screening

St. Andrew’s requires all students enrolling in our PK3 class to complete a speech-language, hearing, and school readiness screening with:

Screening Registration Information

Please register for the screenings facilitated by the Offices of Megan Doosey, Lauren Smith, and Maley Haro. These screenings will be available during the months of November and December. Prompt registration is recommended to secure your appointment. Following the screening, a specialist will meet with you to discuss the results and provide a detailed written report of the evaluation. Each appointment will last approximately one hour, with a fee of $75, payable directly to Megan Doosey, Lauren Smith, or Maley Haro.

To register for the speech-language, hearing, and school readiness screenings, please complete the registration form at your earliest convenience. Once the form is completed, you will receive a copy of your responses along with a message stating you will receive an email in late October to schedule the appointment via Calendly.

Application Process for PK4 – Grade 8

St. Andrew’s Episcopal School is currently accepting applications for Pre-Kindergarten 4 through Grade 8. To be assured of timely processing, applications should be submitted as early in the fall as possible and prior to December 31 to be assured first-round admission consideration. Steps to apply:

Pre-Kindergarten 4 – Children must be at least four years old by August 31 to be eligible for Pre-Kindergarten. Both age and developmental maturity are considered in the admission process.

  3. Transcript Release – Complete our transcript release form.
  4. Teacher Recommendation Form – Form will be sent to current school by St. Andrew’s.
  5. Schedule Visit/Testing – Student visit will be scheduled by the Admissions Office and a developmental screening will be done during the visit.  If applicant applies to another ISAS school and an intellectual assessment is required,  a copy should also be submitted to St. Andrew’s.
  6. Student Observation – St. Andrew’s will schedule an observation at current school.

Kindergarten

Children must be at least five years old by August 31 to be eligible for Kindergarten. Both age and developmental maturity are considered in the admission process.

  5. Schedule Student Visit – Student visit will be scheduled by the Admissions Office.
  6. Schedule Testing – St. Andrew’s Episcopal School requires that your child have an Intellectual Assessment (Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence-WPPSI-IV or Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-WISC-IV).  The appropriate test is determined by the age of the child. Parents coordinate the testing with the psychologist, and the psychologist submits the results to our Admission Office. A list of suggested psychologists is provided:  List of Suggested Psychologists Please contact one of the psychologists listed, or any other qualified tester you may choose, to arrange the administration of the test. (Students in Grades 4 -8 may submit consecutive years of standardized test scores in lieu of the intellectual assessment. If you should have any questions related to the intellectual assessment please contact the Admission Office.

Admission Decisions PK4 – Grade 8

All applications are processed through the Admissions Office and the Admission Committee reviews each applicant’s completed file. Admission decisions are based on several factors, including the classroom visit or observation, intellectual assessment results, confidential teacher recommendations, and space availability.  Ultimately, each decision is based on what is best for the child. Parents will be notified of admission decisions according to the schedule of dates set by the ISAS (Independent Schools Association of the Southwest) schools in New Orleans.
